AUB GAZER

Whilst finishing my studies on the Arts University Bournemouth BA Photography course, I worked as Social Media Coordinator for our photographic collective ‘Gazer’. The aim of our social media presence was to promote and spread awareness around our self-titled graduate showcase exhibition, ‘Gazer’, at Copeland Gallery, Peckham. Instagram was our main point of call for our audience to find information on our show, fundraising events, our photographers and our principle vision as a collective.

I worked closely with the design, events and sponsorship teams to ensure our collective was being portrayed in the optimum manner with clean and contemporary aesthetics. As well as writing the necessary copy for each post, I’d create behind the scenes content, artists profiles, marketing and events posts as well as engage with our audience in comments and messages. This experience planning, scheduling, analysing and creating the content for our socials allowed me to gain invaluable experience in marketing a product to the general public. It has informed my decision to study a Masters in Digital Marketing at Oxford Brookes University with the aim to gain experience and knowledge to be able to work within digital marketing in the future.

As a gen z, I have grown up with social media and understand both its advantages and disadvantages. I understand how it operates and feel comfortable across various platforms. I feel that I bring a young and fresh perspective, providing a viewpoint from the generation most proficient within social media.

Similarly, as a photographer I am aware of the importance of social media for establishing a ‘brand’ for yourself. My current studies on Oxford Brookes’ MSc Digital Marketing, is allowing me to gain further understanding into marketing and consumers. I would like to gain hands-on experience to put what I have learnt to use.

I am open to exploring the various roles within digital marketing including social media, SEO and content creation.

Moving image work featured in ‘Gazer’ promotion video comes from artist Luke Spencer. More of his work can be found @Lukerspencer on Instagram.

The role harnessed my key skills within photography, video and Adobe Creative Suite to market our show and raise awareness of our artistic practices. My organisation, creativity, and communication skills provide a strong basis to create a successful social media presence for our collective and for your business.
